These earrings are truly art...unique, one-of-a-kind and rare to find. I created them using a handheld torch to heat the copper, which causes an amazing number of colors to form. As I heat the copper, the color will start to form and I need to know exactly when to pull the heat away to keep a certain color continuing to form. Since the copper I work with is so small, over heating even a tiny bit will "erase" the colors I have already created on the piece if I go just a little too long working on another section of the piece.
Hand torched copper is truly an art form. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same. It's impossible, as too many factors are at play. Weather factors such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure all affect the colors the copper will take on, even if applying the same heat. The goal for earrings is to create a pair that artistically go together, as they will not match exactly.
Hand Torched Copper is very hard to take good pictures of, because the amazing thing is that the colors shift depending on the lighting. Sunlight will show colors differently than indoor light. As you can see from the different photos I posted (with different light angles), each picture shows slightly different color ranges on this same pair of earrings - from blues to purples, reds, greens, yellows, pinks, orange and sparkled up "golden copper".
You will love the uniqueness of these earrings - I guarantee it!
