Garnet Jewelry

Commonly seen as the color red, Garnets actually span across multiple hues of red, green, pink, and brown!
I use naturally beautiful wine-red Garnet stones for my designs.

Garnets are January’s Birthstone, and they’re also a traditional gift for your 2nd anniversary.
Don’t limit yourself to those special occasions, though! Garnets are some of the most popular gems for women’s jewelry, and their deep red colors are also wonderful in men’s jewelry!

Garnets are symbols of love and friendship and are believed to have a connection to your inner fire and creativity.

ABOUT EARTH SONG JEWELRY

What is the meaning of Garnet stone jewelry?

Historically, a pomegranate was given as a gift of passion and love. Named for the pomegranate's deep-red seeds, Garnet stone jewelry has been given as a gift symbolizing love over the ages. In addition to representing love, Garnets are said to bring you creativity and peace of mind.

What birthstone month is represented by Garnet stones?

Garnets have been used to represent January as far back as the 15th century. Many months have "traditional" vs. "modern" birthstones - but Garnets have stood the test of time as January's birthstone!

Those born in January are lucky to have the beautiful and diverse Garnet as their birthstone. Garnets are commonly red, but they also come in a large range of colors, including orange, yellow, purple and vibrant green. There are even Garnets that change color from blue to purple in different lighting! Even with this range of colors, January's birthstone is typically represented by the red Garnet gemstone. My handmade Garnet natural stone jewelry Collection uses beautiful wine-red Garnets.

Is the Garnet stone a type of Ruby?

No. For centuries, Garnets and Rubies were grouped as the same stone "family" - all being erroneously referred to as different types of "rubies." It wasn't until about 1800 that Ruby stone was recognized as a separate gemstone species! So, no, Garnets are not the same as Rubies (which are July's birthstone).

What types of Garnet stone jewelry do you make?

In addition to dangling and uniquely designed Garnet natural stone heart shaped hoop earrings, I create Garnet multi-stone chain and bar necklaces.

Is Sterling Silver jewelry hypoallergenic and nickel free?

Yes! Sterling Silver is an alloy that does not contain any nickel - and nickel free jewelry is hypoallergenic. All of my handmade natural stone jewelry is hypoallergenic! To learn more about this topic, see my article on Hypoallergenic & Nickel Free Jewelry.

How should I care for my Garnet stone handmade jewelry?

As usual for all jewelry, you should not wear Garnet jewelry in the shower or at the beach/pool. You should also avoid getting chemicals such as hairspray, sunscreen and hand lotion on your stone jewelry. Please do not put any of my handmade artisan jewelry in ultrasonic or steam cleaners. If needed, clean your Garnet stone jewelry with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly before storing.
